Architecture & Taste Expo Tour

The Chambers of Architects of Milan, Turin and Cuneo, in collaboration with AIM - Association for Metropolitan Interests, on the occasion of Expo 2015 Milan (titled Feed the Planet, energy for life) organised 6 different itineraries between Lombardy and Piedmont about architecture and food.

The itineraries are available on demand for 15-50 participants and cover Milan and Turin metropolitan area, and Cuneo and Langhe countryside area, well known for architectures and vineyards.

For participants who want to visit the Expo area we offer the possibility to buy an open date ticket at the reduced price of 28 euro in addition to the Architecture & Taste tours.

01_Itinerary in the historic centre of Milan

The itinerary includes a guided visit on feet in the centre of Milan, discovering the architecture excellences of historical value and of particular interest for the reuse of spaces linked to taste and nutrition. The itinerary starts from the “Arts & Foods” exhibition of the Triennale of Milan and the Torre Branca, a project of Giò Ponti. Through the Sempione Park and the Castello Sforzesco, with the new cafè inside the courtyard the tour arrives in Piazza dei Mercanti, symbolic place of the Milanese trade.

Finally it arrives in the Vittorio Emanuele II Gallery, where there will be a visit at the Highline Gallery, the new walk on the roofs of the Gallery, where Michele De Lucchi has concluded the project of the Mercato del Duomo, new location of the Italian taste.

02_Itinerary through factory's and production's buildings

The tour includes a guided visit to the excellence places and the factory museums located in the Milanese area, among them: Galleria Campari, Kartell Museum and Mumac, the espresso coffe machine museum. The bus tour includes a visit at the Porta Nuova district, with its skyscrapers that re-designed the Milan skyline and the big open air space with the urban gardens and the big weathfield, and the Fondazione Prada, with the art collections of the fashion brand projected by Rem Koolhaas with the cafè designed by the film director Wes Anderson.

03_Biketour in Southern Milan

The itinerary is a bike tour of 28 km in the south west of Milan, accessible for everyone, starting and arriving point will be the Gaggiano train station. The itinerary twists and turns through ancient villages immerse in the country or grew up along the artificial canal of the Naviglio, passing through farmyards, farmed fields, artificial lakes, historical monuments and new intervention of landscape recovery. During the tour traditional local food will be tasted.

04_Itinerary in the centre of Turin

The initiative includes a guided visit in the city centre of Turin, discovering the architecture excellences through history and innovation, symbol of the Turin renovation that involves also historic places. Recovery interventions of entire districts with new social housing models and restaurants, with historical locations linked to food of Turin tradition as the Gobino Chocolate Factory or the Del Cambio restaurant will be visited. The tour includes the Porta Palazzo market, the biggest one in Europe, and the new Egyptian Museum, just now opened.

05_Itinerary through Re-Use and Transformation places in the Metropolitan Area of Turin

This itinerary is a discovery of the industrial and productive side of Turin, focusing in particular on the reuse of buildings. The tour will guide visitors to Ex Tobler and 25 Verde interventions, Lingotto complex, recovered by Renzo Piano, Eataly relevant for the reuse of the Carpano Factory spaces, Intesa Tower, Piazza dei Mestieri, Merz Foundation, Automobile Museum and Casa Martini

06_Itinerary through the province of Cuneo

The itinerary is a bus tour through the Langhe Area to discover the wineries and cascine of the territory that present architectural characteristics of particular significance and where visitors will see the wine production cycle and the Slow Food institution. The itinerary includes visits in some wineries relevant for their products and their architecture, like the Cantina Ceretto, the town of Barolo and the visit at the Agenzia di Pollenzo and the Banca del Vino. During the tour wine and food tasting of local gastronomy excellences will be offered.
